Box Culture Postcards

Whenever your family plans a vacation, especially during the summer, make sure that you pack enough postcards to send to your friends and other family members back home. But, if you actually forgot to buy a pack of postcards, you can still make your own...out of cereal boxes? That's right, Beckie of Infarrantly Creative was the first to come up with the idea of "Cereal Box Postcards" to not only promote Earth Day Week of 2011, but to show how easy it is to recycle and reuse empty cereal boxes into a piece of memorabilia to send to your friends.

Here's what you will need to make your own postcards

• cereal boxes
• x-acto knife or paper cutter
• ruler
• fine black permanent marker or black pen
• Optional: corner punch or you can use large buttons to make rounded corners, like in my example

The first thing you will need to do is go through some of your cereal boxes and cut them down to 4 x 6 inch rectangles.

You can even jazz up your postcards, by using a corner punch for a rounded look. Or you can do, just like how I did and place a large button by the corner, and carefully cut along the outside with an X-acto knife.

Finally, use a straight edge ruler and a black fine marker or pen to make lines: several lines on the side for your address, and one vertical line separate the words from the address.

Now they're ready to be sent out to your family and friends! Just add a return address and a stamp and pop them in the mailbox! Take them with you on your next summer vacation or write someone a thank you note! This project is great for sending someone a piece of recycled material that they can cherish for a lifetime!
