Big Wall Clock Made of Recycled Materials
I made an absolute position encoder and entered it in the "#Made with math" contest and people asked me what practical advantages it had. So, this is the clock I made with that.

Supplies
I used some recycled beer and soda cans and plastic.
Main parts: a custom pcb, arduino mini, motor controller modules, RTC clock module, some gears and bearings, a piece of copper wire, shafts, 2 dc motors.
Preparation
Cut the plastic into small pieces and melt them. I don't have 3d printer I used this method instead. I made 2 discs for supporting the hands and made a fixture and counterweight from melted plastic.
Some Ideas for Mechanical Things
Electronics
An Arduino mini controls the 2 motor controllers and processes data from 16 opto sensors to calculate hands positions.
BOM
Arduino Mini
2 DC motor driver modules.
DS3231 RTC module
0.91 Inch OLED Module
The main gears are: Main Drive Gear 150T for TREX 450 SE V2 V3 PRO Helicopter,
F6700-2Z Flanged Deep Groove Ball Bearings.
