Best Ever Stove-top Popcorn
Finally! A stove-top popcorn that is good for you but also makes you want to stuff your face! Free of nasty chemicals and oils, this recipe is intended for wellness-seekers and junk food lovers alike! Adjust the seasonings to your liking, perhaps a drizzle of Sriracha is more your jam, or how about some cinnamon and a sprinkle of sugar? Cuddle up with your pet, partner, baby or glass of wine and enjoy this movie snack you can feel good about!
Ingredients:
1-2 tbsp coconut oil
1/2-1 cup popcorn kernels (the fresher the better)
1-4 tbsp butter
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
1 tsp good quality salt
1-2 tsp garlic powder
Sprinkle of chili powder or paprika
Optional: Chipotle powder, onion powder or Cajun spice are other great additions!
Adjust amounts according to the number of popcorn lovers in the house and your personal taste!
Pop the Corn
Add coconut oil and kernels to large pot and place on high heat. Cover with lid. As oil starts to sizzle begin shaking pot side to side on burner (or pick up pot and shake briefly off the burner). You will need to do this every 30 seconds or so until all kernels have popped so the popcorn doesn't burn!
Melt the Butter
Warm butter in small saucepan or cast iron skillet until fully melted. Or use microwave if that's more your style.
Drizzle and Sprinkle
Once popcorn popping has slowed to a few pops a minute, take pot of burner. Drizzle half of butter onto popcorn. Sprinkle on about half of the nutritional yeast, salt, and spices. Shake pot. Repeat with the remainder. Pour popcorn into bowl, grab a handful of napkins, your glass of wine (or whatever) and your partner if available, and enjoy by the handful in front of Netflix reruns and there you have a perfect evening!
