Best Apple Strudel Ever
My grandmother used to bake this strudel in special occasions, it didn't matter how much you ate you always had space for this delicious apple strudel. No matter how much she made it would always disappear. This recipe is for one piece of strudel enough for 4 people or 2 very hungry people.
Ingredients
300 gr puff pastry
4 small apples
1/4 cup pecan nuts
1/4 cup raisins
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
Prepare Apples
Wash the apples and peel them. Cut them in little squares to make them stay inside the puff pastry bread. Big pieces can cut the puff pastry and we don't want that.
Roll Dough
Roll the dough in a floured surface to get a big rectangle. Try to make the shape and edges as good as you can.
Fill It
Spread the butter covering a smaller rectangle.
Put the apple squares inside the dough, not reaching any of the borders. Place the raisins and pecans on top.
Sprinkle sugar all over the filling and a little bit of cinnamon.
Egg and Cut
Mix your egg and put some in all the perimeter of your rectangle. Make diagonal cuts in the left and right side.
Braid
Grab the triangle in the lower side with both hands and pull it up gently.
Start braiding the cuts we made before, one piece from the left and one piece from the right and so on. Use more egg to close the last piece.
Glaze and Sprinkle
Place your braid in a baking tray with wax paper. Glaze it with the egg and put sugar all over it.
Bake at 220ÂșC for 25 minutes or until the puff pastry gets a golden look.
Cut it in half and enjoy with tea, coffee, hot cocoa or a milkshake.
