Beech Truss Desk

I wanted a new desk for quite a long time. I finally followed the idea to build a truss light structure desk.

I built each part from 13mm square sticks of beech.

I used a jigsaw for cutting them, which is not the best tool to do so. The cuts are not very precise nor clean.

I used wood glue and epoxy glue on higher stress parts.

While assembling the parts, I realized that the structure was not rigid enough; I needed more strength between the back and the legs. So I improvised some triangular struts.

I wanted a space under the desk board to be able to put some papers. I
because the triangular struts ruined my plans for the under desk room. The small triangles at the back are a little more higher than the rest of the board.

I got lucky, it is not an issue when using it.

I glued the desk at the very end and it was a mistake. I would be much better to start from the board.

I experimented at the end to drill small holes with a 3.2mm metal drill (wood drills are not working good with beech) and put some bamboo skewer with glue. It is far more robust.

If anyone wants to do something like this, I would recommend that you start by fixing on the desk itself first with glue and skewer, in my case, the desk unglue itselft when I moved the desk. I was able to fix it but it was not very clean.
