No-Drill Coral Shower Hook
In your bathroom, just changing small fixtures can really make a big difference and help to refresh the whole room. But bathroom DIY can get a little tricky. Attaching fittings where you want them is either permanent or simply impossible (and a big no-no if you're renting your house).
Sugru lets you experiment without the worry! So you can change the layout for your bathroom without the need for any drilling. So you're free to attach things where it wouldn't be possible to drill, like putting your towel rail on the side of your hand basin! Whatever works for you.
And if you change your mind, you can just remove it.
For this project we turned a piece of coral into a handy hook for the shower (our James found it washed up on the beach).
Choose Your Hook
If you think about it, almost anything can be a hook — choose lovely hooks in the DIY store or browse online for loads of ideas from others. It's up to you :) Once you've found something to use, this is an easy 10min project.
Sugru is great at sticking odd shapes and different materials together. It bonds to almost everything so chances are it will bond to what you need. Sugru is pretty much like other silicones - so it's completely waterproof. It's easy to clean with soap and water, When it's cured, it's easy to clean with soap and water.
Stick on the Sugru
We used just 1 single use pack of Sugru for this project.
- Open your pack of Sugru and roll it into a ball in your hands
- Press the ball of Sugru firmly on to the back of your hook
- Then shape the Sugru into a little pyramid shape
Stick It On!
- It's important to make sure the surface you are attaching this to is dry.
- Then press the Sugru pyramid on to the surface firmly, until Sugru comes out of the sides a little.
- Then just shape and smooth the excess Sugru with your finger, so that it fills in the gap.
24 hours later your new hook will be ready to use, but you'll already be planning the next project by then. Maybe one on the back of the door for your bathrobe? next to the sink for your towel?
And clever little improvements like this can be useful all over your home. So why stop at the bathroom? Head over to our DIY and Home section on Sugru.com for loads more project ideas and inspiration to copy!
