Barong Woodwork Sculpture
I've become interested in Balinese culture recently. There's one cultural symbol I came across that fascinated me - the Barong. It's a cute yet fantastical creature that represents the patron of good forces in Bali, Indonesia.
The Barong symbolizes good luck, wealth and prosperity for the Balinese people. Its mask and colorful costume make it instantly recognizable. But it's more than just a performance piece - the Barong holds significant spiritual meaning.
Supplies

Design Carving Routine
Sketch out design or use 3D modeling software to design the Barong Carving Routine. Make sure to include all important details and consider how to break it down into cut layers.
Prepare the Material
Softwood like pine work well for CNC carving. Cut board to size you need (or you can do it when finished) leaving extra around the edges for clamps to fixed the board.
Import the Design
Transfer your 3D model files into a G-code generator software. Slice the model into multiple toolpath layers.
Set Up the Machine
Secure your material to the CNC router's vacuum bed or clamps. Double check it's perfectly level. Install the recommended engraving or v-carving bit.
Run the Toolpaths
Starting with the shallowest depth, run each layer one by one until the sculpture is fully carved.
Clean and Oil Sealing Layer
Remove the sculpture and clean off any debris and do the final process- oil sealing.
