Barbie's Side Table

IMG_5258.JPG

If you follow my instructable's account you know I make a lot of things for Barbie. Its amazing how expensive are her tiny accessories. So I have to make lots of things for her house and her wardrobe.

Today I'm going to show you how to upcycle several materials to make a beautiful side table, that is even more beautiful than what you can get at a store, and it uses real wood and metal. But don´t worry, even when working with metal and wood we´ll use common tools.

So lets get started!

Gather Your Materials

Wooden sticks (mine are skinny, but the regular ones should work too)

Four bobby pins

A cereal box

Glue gun

Scissors

Cut the Cardboard

Cut the box in the shape you like. I wanted mine hexagonal but you can make a square, circle, rectangle...

Glue

Start covering the shape with the sticks. Stick them with hot glue.
Once the glue gets cool, trim the edges to make them the size of the cardboard.

Continue until you have all the shape covered with sticks.

Legs

Open each bobby pin, and fold it back making the "legs" the same size.

Glue

Glue each bobby pin to the back of the table. Eventhough the bobbypins are thin, they give a lot of structure to the table, and if you feel that a leg is shorter than other bend them slightly until the table is leveled.

Enjoy!

The table is ready! You can use it as a coffe table, side table. If the legs are made with oversized bobby pins, it can be a dining table.
