Banana sandwich rolls are extremely easy to make. Strictly no skills are required. Simply flatten the bread slices. Spread with your favourite peanut butter spread and roll up the bread slices with a peeled banana. Then cut into bite size pieces. These can be premade and stored in the refrigerator to make this quick snack even faster.

They are great as a simple and quick grab-and-go breakfast. They also make great healthy lunchbox and snacks for kids too.

Ingredients:

2 slices white bread

1 tablespoon peanut butter, crunchy

1 banana, peeled

Cut the Crust Off on All Sides of the White Sandwich Bread.

Try to use a soft white bread, the softer the better. It should almost "melt in your mouth" once the crusts are cut off. Chewy and wholemeal bread is less ideal for making these sushi rolls.

Lie Them on Top of Each Other.

Lay two slices of bread on the work surface next to each other, slightly overlapping one over the other to create a big rectangular piece.

Using a Rolling Pin, Flatten the Two Pieces of Bread to As Thin As Possible.

Press the slices together at the seam and use a rolling pin to gently flatten them to as thin as possible. This helps to join the bread together in the middle and make for easy roll-up.

Note:

If you don't have a rolling pin, use the sides of a tall jar instead.

Spread Crunchy Peanut Butter on Top of the Bread.

Gently spread peanut butter evenly over both of the bread pieces. Try to use crunchy peanut butter as it offers a crunch to every bite of the sushi rolls. The crunchy peanut butter literally transforms the sandwich sushi snack to a meal. In short, it's filling and nutritious.

You can also choose to use other of your favourite spreads.

Note:

Peanut butter is an American classic that both adults and children love. It comes in two basic forms: crunchy and smooth. Choosing crunchy peanut butter instead of smooth provides a little bit more of beneficial fatty acids and fiber.

Put a Peeled Ripe Banana on Top of the Bread.

P1140502.jpg

Lay a whole ripe banana at one end of the bread. The banana should be ripe but still firm so it can hold when rolled with the bread.

Roll It Up FIRMLY

P1140505.jpg

Then carefully roll up the banana in the bread. Roll the flattened bread with the banana tightly so it resembles a sausage roll and is a good-sized spiral.

Wrap a Cling Wrap Over It and Chill in Refrigerator Until Needed.

Use a cling wrap and wrap over the whole rolled banana sandwich. Make sure it is tight so that the sushi sandwich will hold its shape when it is cut later. Store in refrigerator until needed. This will further firm up the sandwich roll.

Note:

This sandwich can be served right away or you can store them in the refrigerator until ready to be eaten.

Cut Into Sushi Size Sandwich Rolls.

When ready to be eaten, use a knife to cut the roll into four equal sushi-sized pieces. Be sure to use a very sharp knife to avoid pinching the roll.

Arrange on a Plate and Enjoy!

The banana in the sushi sandwich offers quick carbs and the peanut butter offers a little protein and fiber. It's a real "match" made in heaven!

You can replace banana with zucchini, peanut butter spread with cream cheese spread and white bread with wholemeal bread too. The possibilities are just endless. However, the technique is the same no matter what is used.
