Love pizza? Love bagels? Why not eat them together! This recipe is very simple and everyone will love it. It is both fancy and phenomenal!
Supplies
Ingredients:
- 3 cups warm water
- 2 tbs molasses
- 2 tbs yeast
- 8 cups flour
- Sauce of choosing
- Toppings of choosing
- Oil
- Egg (for eggwash)
Tools:
- Measuring cups
- Measuring spoons
- Spoon
- Rolling pin
- Mixing bowls
Proofing the Yeast
Combine warm water, molasses, and yeast. Let yeast water "proof" for 5 minutes.
Kneading the Dough
Combine the yeast mixture with the flour. Use a spoon to mix until kneadable. Use hands to knead the dough until smooth (about 100-150 times).
Rise the Dough
Place the dough in an oiled mixing bowl. Cover the mixing bowl with a cloth, then place the bowl in a warm area. Let rise for 30 minutes.
Divide and Conquer
Divide the dough into equally sized pieces. Use a rolling pin to roll each section of dough about 1/2 centimeter thick.
Add Toppings and Make a Bagel
Spread sauce into a donut shape, leaving uncovered space around the outer edges. Add toppings. Connect a section of dough from the outer edge to the inside. Move along the outer edge in order until a bagel forms. Form a hole in the center of the bagel. Place the pleated side of the completed bagel onto a greased pan. Repeat until all bagels are finished.
Bake and Glaze
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake bagels for 15 minutes or until the surface of the dough is dry. Use a pastry brush to glaze bagels with a beaten egg. Return the pan into the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Plate and Enjoy
Enjoy bagels while hot!
