BBQ Warm Ice Cream Cones
Most of my family is either allergic or intolerant to lactose, so we've been making these "warm ice cream cones" for years. They resemble American smores, as well as Hungarian winter ice cream cones (called télifagyi). They can be prepared in advance for easy transportation or assembled just before grilling. Perfect treat to end a family BBQ.
Prepare Ingredients
Gather your ingredients and, if necessary, cut them up into smaller pieces. There are many ingredients and combinations to choose from:
- ice cream waffle cone or waffle bowl
- cookies, puffed rice
- plain white/milk/dark chocolate or cut up candy bars
- alcohol filled truffles for adults
- regular or gelatin-free marshmallows
- fresh or dried fruit
- chopped or whole nuts
Aluminum foil
Fill the Cones
Mix your choice of ingredients and fill the cones all the way to the top. Press the filling into the wafer. Cut a small square of aluminum foil and use it to cover the top of the cone.
Wrap the Cones
Pull a square piece of foil and use it to wrap the cone up. Make sure to seal the pointy end and wrap it tightly at the top.
Grill
Grill them for anywhere between 5 and 15 min, depending on the temperature of the oven/grill/bbq you are using. You can always pull a cone out and unwrap it to check if chocolate and marshmallows are sufficiently melted.
Best eaten warm.
