Apple-banana Smoothie!

Easy, cheap, healthy and delicious! And a great use for brown bananas!

I really love smoothie, and I make it all the time! It's healthy and tastes amazing! So here is my favorite recipe!

This is also a life hack recipe for use of brown bananas. Instead of throwing them out, you can freeze them and use them in smoothies! In this case, it doesn't matter if they are brown, because you blend them, and also because they are actually sweeter when they are brown, so you don't even have to put sugar in the smoothie. And that makes it even healthier!

Besides, this recipe is really cheap and easy to make. I normally make it in the afternoon when I come home from my job, but I also make it in the mornings some times. It takes just about 3 - 5 minutes to make.

Ingredients (2 people):

  • 2 bananas
  • 2 apples (other fruit is also good. Either instead or also! I can recommend strawberries or other berries, but i don't recommend kiwi or melon)
  • Juice or milk (My favorite is multi fruit juice, but orange juice is also really good! Some people use yogurt, but I've never tried it)
  • Vanilla (I didn't have any for my pictures, but I normally put a tiny bit in there)

What you need:

  • Plastic bag
  • Freezer
  • Hand blender

Freeze the Bananas!

So basically you just need to freeze the bananas. I like to chop them up into smaller pieces, to make it easier for my hand blender later on.

I always have a little stash in my freezer, ready for my smoothies! But if you can't wait, it tastes all the same with normal temperature bananas, I just like my smoothie cold :)

As I said before, it doesn't matter if your bananas are brown. I like to remove the really squashy parts, but the brown in the banana is really sweet and makes the smoothie really good.

Mix the Ingredients

Chop the apples into smaller pieces to help your hand blender. Personally I never peel them, but feel free to do so!
Put them in a jug and add the frozen bananas.

Then pour juice, milk or yogurt in as well. The amount is really up to you, depending which consistency you want. I usually add between 1/2 and 2/3 of the place the fruit is taking.

Blend!

Yes, blend, pour it, drink it!

If you have a hand blender like mine, you might want to force your hand blender into the fruit, until it is covered in juice - I find easier and less messy that way!

I hope you enjoy it!
