Apple Toastie Pie
So, I was sitting at my desk, doing some study when I felt the sudden urge to eat an apple pie. "But I cannot bake a pie" I thought to myself "and I don't have time to cook one anyways". Unsure of how to solve my dilemma, I walked into the kitchen looking for inspiration. Sitting on the bench-top was a toastie maker, You know, the ones you make cheese toasties in? "could I make an apple toastie?" I wondered. And so the Apple Toastie Pie was born.
What You Will Need:
For the sake of simplicity, the apple toastie pie is made up of only a few basic ingredients.
The following amounts equate to one toastie pie:
1 Apple (Use old bruised apples if you can, its a great way to use them up)
1 tablespoon of sugar (this is only a rough guide, use whatever you see fit)
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon powder (again only rough, use as much as you like)
Water
2 slices of bread
A tiny bit of butter
Along with this you will need some equipment:
A small saucepan
A Sandwich Grill
A knife (something fairly sharp to cut you're apple with)
A peeler

Cooking the Apple:
Basically, what we want to do in the first step is cook our apple so its soft and sweet.
The first thing you will want to do is grab your peeler and peel the skin off of the apple.
Once that is done, cut the good bits off and throw the core away (or core the apple if you have a corer).
Chop the pieces of apple into rough chunks.
Throw them into your saucepan and put in just enough water to cover them fully.
Place the saucepan on medium heat and wait for the water to come to a boil.
Once the water is boiling, add your sugar and cinnamon to the saucepan and stir it in a bit so it doesn't just float on top.
Enjoy the aroma of the apple and cinnamon!
Keep watching the saucepan and poke a piece of apple with a spoon every now and then to see if it is getting soft, (not too soft though you don't want apple mush, just softened chunks).
Once you think the apple pieces are ready, pull one out with a spoon, let it cool for a few seconds, then gently poke it with your finger. If it breaks easily under your finger, then you are ready for the next step. If not, give your apple a few more minutes in the saucepan and try again.
As a rough guide, it took my apple chunks about 10 minutes in the boiling water to become nice and soft.

Putting It Together:
Ok, so now your apple is nice and soft, plug your sandwich grill in and let it start heating up.
While it heats up, you can do a few things.
First off, drain the water out of your saucepan, leaving behind the apple chunks.
Once that's done, grab your bread and (very lightly) butter both slices, just to make sure they don't stick to the inside of the sandwich grill.
So by now your sandwich grill should be ready to go, the first thing you need to do here is place one of your slices of bread (buttered side down) into the grill and pop your apple chunks into the center of the slice. If you like, you can put a little bit of extra cinnamon powder and/or sugar onto your apple now as well, but I don't really think its necessary.
Then, place your other slice on top (buttered side up) and slowly close the grill on top of it.
Give it a minute or so and see how it is going.

Once the apple toastie pie is cooked, pull it out of the sandwich grill, pop it onto a plate and enjoy!
Just be careful, the apple can get quite hot, make sure you don't burn yourself trying to eat it.
Make sure you unplug the grill before you walk away to eat.
Well, that is all. I hope you enjoyed my Instructable (and the final product of course). Feel free to try some different fillings as well and let me know how it goes. Any ideas or tips are most welcome.
Thankyou.
