All Occasion Advent Style Countdown Calendar
Caffeine is not optional. As I was browsing the selection of K-cup flavors, it occurred to me that the storage rack was like an advent calendar- 24 little happy surprises to start my day. My children love our holiday advent countdown calendar and are always sad to see the fun morning surprises end. As I was thinking about how to create an all occasion advent style calendar- my neighbor swapped out her 24 k-pod storage unit for a 56 k-pod storage unit and Instructables posted a trash to treasure contest! So I had no option, except to create an all occasion advent style countdown calendar.
Supplies
For advent style countdown calendar
24 k-cup vertical storage unit (thrift stores often have them)
Corner molding
Spray paint
Cardboard
Velcro dots
Cardstock paper
For all occasion changeable fronts
Scrapbook paper (12X12)
Surprise Holders
Remove the pod holder and trace cardboard to fit
Secure to back of with hot glue
Rails to Allow Fronts to Be Changed
Measure the k-cup unit
Cut the corner molding to size (four)
Glue to unit, so a sheet of scrapbook paper can be easily slid into place
Spray paint the entire unit
Countdown Disks
Trace one storage circle
Draw around the circle with a broad tip marker (this increases the circle size to adequately cover each “surprise space)
Cut and use as template to draw 24 circles (extras are helpful)
Decide on design pattern and add numbers and decorate
Attach to each opening with a Trace one storage circle
Draw around the circle with a broad tip marker (this increases the circle size to adequately cover each “surprise"space)
Cut and use as template to draw 24 circles (extras are helpful)
Decide on design pattern and add numbers and decorate
Attach to each opening with a Velcro dot
Easy to Change All Occasion Fronts
12x12 scrapbook paper should fit and cover the entire unit
Design a page for each occasion (holidays, birthdays, trips)
Tip- use a greeting card as the central idea for quick fronts
Countdown to Fun
Add surprises, jokes or slips of paper about a special event
Enjoy the excitement of a little surprise each day, no caffeine required:)
