A Tiny DIY Microphone (That Actually Works!)
A microphone needs to be of good quality to ensue that the people you are talking to can hear you in crisp and clear audio. This requires a good quality microphone, which are REALLY expensive. So, here's a tutorial for making a good quality microphone that you can make at home from a old or broken pair earphones. Generally, only the speaker of the earphones will be damaged or broken, that's why we can cut them off and use the microphone.
Supplies
Supplies needed : -
An Old Earphone/Headset
A Piece Of Foam
Tape
Paper
Getting the Microphone Out
Remove the casing of the box like structure which is present just below the wires of the earphones.
Take out the chip in which the microphone is. It looks like a cylindrical box with a black cloth like material on top.
Cut the cables above it (2-3 mm works fine) and twist them.
Making the Pop Filter for the Microphone
This step is pretty straightforward:-
Cut a rectangular piece of foam.
Make a hole in it so that the microphone and half(or full) of the microphone's circuit board fits in it.
Make it a semi-circular shape
Making the Mic's Handle
Now we are going to make the mic's cover.
Take a small piece of thick paper and roll it around your microphone's wire and tape it (tightly).
Voila
We're Done!
Congratulations for building a new microphone!!!
