6 Common Diseases in Chickens
Hello!! I thought it would be helpful if you didn't have to go back and forth to different websites searching for common chicken diseases! So, here are six common chicken diseases and their symptoms!!
Supplies
You don't need anything, except maybe a vet, if your chicken(s) have any of these diseases.
Fowl Cholera
Fowl Cholera is a contagious disease that's caused by Pasteurella Multocida. The symptoms are, lameness, swollen wattle, and torticollis. Fowl Cholera can be asymptomatic.
Coccidiosis
The symptoms of Coccidiosis are weight-loss, paleness, ruffled feathers, depression, huddling, unwillingness to eat, and watery or bloody diarrhea.
Avian Flu
The symptoms of Avian Flu are lack of coordination, purple discoloration of wattles, soft shelled and misshapen eggs, lack of energy and appetite, diarrhea, swelling of the head, nasal discharge.
Fowl Pox/Avian Pox
Symptoms of Avian Pox include, warty, spreading eruptions and scabs on comb and wattle, case caseous deposits in mouth and throat, depression, inappetance, poor growth, poor egg production.
Newcastle Disease
The Symptoms of Newcastle Disease are sneezing, gasping for air, nasal discharge, coughing, greenish diarrhea, decreased activity, tremors, droopy wings, twisting of the head, circling, complete stiffness, and swelling around eyes.
Salmonellosis
The symptoms of Salmonellosis include, depression, poor growth, weakness, diarrhea, and dehydration.
