I made a clock to see the flow of the day.

Because I want to design and make my own clock.

And since I found this site a week before I finished building this clock, I don't have any pictures of the early work. sorry. And also I am not good at English.

Supplies

Tools you need are a saw, sander, glue, and pliers.

One clock movement,(You can also find them on Amazon if you search for clock movements. Or you can buy it at a clock store) two gears with a 1:2 ratio, one 6mm rod or dowel, six 40mm screws or bolts, 1mm wire, one nail and one bearing to fit the nail,

And you need a battery adapter taken from a home appliance.

And one battery.

And the important thing is that you need stain.

Assembling the movement and making the battery holder.

Drilling holes in 7 to insert parts that allow current to flow.

Assemble 1 and 2 into 7.

Cut off part of the movement. Connect the battery adaptert to the movement and solder it.

Insert the battery and check whether the current is flowing by listening to the clock.

Then assemble 8 with this.

For display part 6, be sure to use light-colored wood and stain it.

This is because light-colored wood is exposed after carving the display part.

Then assemble this with base 4.

Then, secure all parts with screws or bolts from the bottom.

Disassemble the movement and cut the minute hand gear so that only the hour hand gear is visible.

Cut the hour hand as shown in the photo. Attach the pinion gear there.

In the other gear, drill a hole to fit a 1mm wire.

Turn the Wire Into a Cam.

It's time to make the most important core mechanism of this clock. First, let me warn you that this part is very difficult to make.

Even I can't make it perfectly, so the clock has an error of about 30 minutes (only 3 mm in length).

So it is not a perfect guide, but I will guide you as much as I can.

Turn the wire into a cam.

Bend the wire in the shape of an incline surface on a plane as shown in the picture. Find a 40mm cylinder (like a lotion bottle) and roll the wire around the cylinder. Then, refer to the front, top of the picture and shape it with your hands.

Provisionally assemble the gear with the hole drilled and check that the cam operates.

It must be make to operate consistently from 0:00 to 24:00.

If you have made it successfully, glue the wires and gears.

Assemble the Gear

' Do not use glue on gears, but use glue on bearings.'

Determine the appropriate location ‘through testing’, After making a hole according to the diameter of the nail, Insert the nail and apply glue. It's not about driving nails in.

Then You've Probably Finished Building

Enjoy it!
